Terms of Service

Last Updated: April 7, 2026

By accessing the HandForHelp website or booking any of our services, you agree to be bound by the following terms. These terms are designed to ensure a fair and transparent experience for both our “Helpers” and our customers.

1. Nature of Service

HandForHelp is an independent errand and logistics provider. We act as your authorized agent to perform tasks, shop, or move items on your behalf. We are a service provider, not a retailer or reseller of goods.

2. Payment & Reimbursement Structure

To keep our service affordable and “markup-free,” we use a two-part payment system:

  • Service Fees: This is the price for our time and travel. We accept Credit Card, E-transfer, and Cash for all service fees. A 3% processing fee applies to credit card transactions.
  • Shopping Deposits: For full shopping tasks, we require the estimated cost of goods to be sent via E-transfer OR Cash prior to the shop. This allows us to provide you with the exact store price without added bank interest or processing markups.
  • Receipt Settlement: We provide the original store receipt with every delivery. Any difference between your deposit and the final receipt will be settled immediately via E-transfer or cash.

3. Inter-City Logistics (Moncton ↔ Saint John)

  • Tier Accuracy: Items are priced by size (Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large). We reserve the right to adjust the service fee if an item’s actual weight tier exceeds the category booked.
  • Heavy Items: For Large or Extra Large items or items, the customer must ensure a clear path and provide assistance with loading/unloading at both the pickup and drop-off locations.

4. Alcohol Delivery & Restricted Items

HandForHelp complies with the New Brunswick Liquor Control Act and provincial regulations regarding the transport of restricted goods.

  • Age Verification: For any errand involving the pickup or delivery of alcohol (including from NB Liquor, local breweries, or distilleries), the recipient must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Mandatory Identification: A valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport, or NB Identification Card) must be presented to the delivery person upon arrival. We cannot perform “Contactless Delivery” for alcohol orders under any circumstances.
  • Intoxication Policy: By law, we cannot deliver alcohol to any person who appears visibly intoxicated.
  • Delivery Locations: We only deliver alcohol to private residences or locations permitted by provincial law. We cannot deliver to public spaces (e.g., parks) or prohibited institutions.
  • Failed Deliveries: If a valid ID is not provided, the recipient is underage, or the recipient appears intoxicated, the alcohol will be returned to the vendor immediately. In these cases, the service fee is non-refundable, and a return-to-store fee ($15.00) will be applied.

5. Cancellations & Returns

  • Cancellations: Please provide at least 24 hour’s notice before your scheduled errand. If a cancellation is requested in less than 24 hours before the approved start time of the task, a $10 fee will be charged. If we have already arrived at a store or pickup point, a $15.00 “Time & Fuel” fee will be charged.
  • Returns: Returning an item to a store is considered a new errand and will incur a separate service fee.

6. Limitation of Liability

While we handle every item with care, HandForHelp is not liable for:

  • Manufacturer defects or the quality of pre-packaged goods.
  • Spoilage of perishables if a “Contactless Delivery” was requested and items were left unattended.
  • Items that do not fit in the customer’s home or through doorways (please measure before booking!).
  • any legal issues arising from the customer’s provision of false identification or failure to comply with provincial age requirements.
